DIY Sleeveless American Flag Hoodie

SUPPLIES YOU WILL NEED:
Blue and Red WATER BASED screen printing ink
Screen printing screen and squeegee (this is for a store bought look) OR Paint brush and foam brush
Painters Tape
Pen
Scissors
Star shaped stickers
Card stock Paper
White hoodie
STEP ONE
First lets start with cutting up the hoodie into the sleeveless style. You will want to cut 1-2” into the shoulder and blend down to the armhole. You can try the hoodie on to see how wide you want the shoulders to be beforehand.

STEP TWO and THREE
Cut the “yoke” shape out of cardstock and tape down to the hoodie
Next start taping off your stripes. This is pretty easy to eye, just try and make them even.
The back of your hoodie should now look like this.

STEP FOUR
In this step you can either brush on the red or place your screen on top and screen the ink on. Screen printing will give you a more even color and a more professional look.

Your hoodie should now look like this

STEP FIVE
Peel off the tape immediately after painting on the stripes and remove the “yoke” piece. Wait about 30 minutes for your stripes to dry. Your hoodie should now look like this

STEP SIX
In this step we will put the stars on. First you will take the reverse portion of the “yoke” you cut out and you will tape it down to protect the stripes.
Place the star stickers on the “yoke” section and tape off around hood to protect from accidentally painting on it.

FINAL STEPS
After you paint or screen the blue color on the “yoke” and remove the tape your final hoodie will look like this.

You can proceed to doing the front in this same way or rock it out as is!
I would LOVE to see what you guys make using this method so please feel free to photo reply with your own creations!! ♥
